This is when West Ham may have to sack Nuno Espirito Santo – it’s only days away

Nuno Espirito Santo’s time at West Ham United is slowly coming to an end.

The Hammers sit firmly in the Premier League relegation zone, five points adrift of safety as the halfway point of the season closes in.

Nuno is currently under huge sack pressure, with the East London side on a run of three consecutive losses and winless in their last seven games.

The Portuguese manager has lost the support of the fanbase, and it won’t be long before the West Ham hierarchy will have a serious decision to make.

Nuno Espirito Santo won’t survive Wolves defeat

West Ham are big underdogs for their clash with Brighton on Tuesday evening, and the London Stadium will be a toxic place if the Hammers fall to yet another defeat.

The East London side then take on rock-bottom Wolves on 3 January, and the game away at Molineux could be pivotal for Nuno.

Martin Lipton has insisted in the print edition of The Sun that if West Ham become the first team to lose to the Old Gold this season, their hierarchy will surely take decisive action regarding Nuno.

Lipton wrote on Tuesday: “After tonight’s home game with Brighton, it is two of Nuno’s former sides, Wolves and Forest, before the FA Cup game with QPR.

“Were the Hammers to become the first team this season to lose to the Molineux men in the Prem, you feel that the axe would have to fall.”

Rob Edwards’ side are sitting on a ridiculously low tally of two points, so it is hard to see how the former Nottingham Forest boss would survive such a defeat.

West Ham have Nuno Espirito Santo replacement waiting

If West Ham did decide to sack Nuno, then they would need an immediate replacement to come in and take charge.

The January transfer window could prove crucial for the Hammers, and they would not want to go into the market without a manager at the helm.

Slaven Bilic is reportedly willing to accept the West Ham job until the end of the season, if Nuno departs, giving David Sullivan and Co. a realistic alternative to the current boss.

Bilic was linked with a return to the London Stadium back when Graham Potter was sacked, and is still available for the Hammers.

The Croatian had a spell in charge of West Ham between 2015 and 2017, as well as making 48 league appearances for the club as a player.
