This is what Nottingham Forest fans chanted about Nuno Espirito Santo as Evangelos Marinakis saga explodes
West Ham did well to secure the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo before any rivals swooped.
His departure from Nottingham Forest in September came as a surprise after he guided the Reds to a first season in Europe in over 60 years.
David Sullivan was quick to appoint Nuno, with his predecessor Graham Potter sacked just hours before he was announced on Saturday.
West Ham earned a well-deserved point against Everton in the 51-year-old’s first game in the dugout, and he has the potential to build a legacy at the London Stadium.
The same can’t be said about Forest and Ange Postecoglou, however.

Nuno Espirito Santo chants heard during Nottingham Forest defeat to Midtjylland
West Ham fans are already falling in love with Nuno, with the Portuguese boss attempting to change things at Rush Green after Potter’s departure.
Changes have already been seen in East London, with James Ward-Prowse left out by Nuno for the trip to Everton on Monday.
The new Hammers boss handed Soungoutou Magassa a first start, and he grew into the game and impressed alongside Mateus Fernandes.
It was the changes in mentality at Nottingham Forest that made supporters enjoy his style of football as he turned them from a relegation-threatened side to Europa League football.
Forest fans now appear to be missing him in the dugout as chants were heard of ‘Nuno’ in the Reds’ 3-2 Europa League defeat to Danish side Midtjylland at the City Ground on 2 October.
Daniel Storey shared via X that Forest fans were also telling his replacement, Postecoglou, he’s being sacked in the morning, and those in front of Evangelos Marinakis were asking angrily what was going on.
West Ham fans will build a bond with Nuno Espirito Santo
Forest fans are already turning on owner Marinakis and realising that it was their owner in the wrong and not Nuno for his dismissal last month.
- Nuno and Marinakis famously had a disagreement on the pitch following Nottingham Forest’s draw with Leicester last season
- Nuno admitted that his relationship with the owner had dwindled this season
The pair reportedly disagreed about transfer proceedings, which created a rift between them.
Just like Forest fans did, West Ham fans will likely end up falling in love with Nuno, should he replicate his fine form from the East Midlands.
Nuno has another opportunity to guide a relegation-threatened Hammers side back to European football.
