Thilo Kehrer shares why he joined West Ham United
Thilo Kehrer has suggested that he wanted a new challenge in life and that’s why he joined West Ham in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old moved to the London Stadium from Paris Saint-Germain. The German defender suggests that he wanted a new role and responsibility in the team.
The Hammers project appealed to him, and he feels he has made the right move in his career.
“After the time at PSG with many titles, it felt like I wanted to play a new role in a team, I want more responsibility. That’s what West Ham asked of me, that’s what I expect of myself. I’m sure that this step will help me in my personal development,” said Kehrer, as quoted by Kicker.
The experienced German defender has been a fantastic addition to the club.
He is a versatile defender who can also as on the right and left side of the defence if required.
Kehrer has made five Premier League appearances so far, and has looked reasonably solid. He has made 1.6 interceptions and has maintained 86.6% passing accuracy, as per WhoScored.
The Hammers bolstered their defence this summer, by adding Kehrer and Nayef Aguerd.
It can be said that of all the newcomers, Kehrer has been the most consistent performer. He had a successful spell at PSG, and the Hammers did really well to snap him up on a bargain deal.
The defence is expected to get even better when Aguerd returns from injury.
Meanwhile, the Hammers have made a very poor start to the season. They look disjointed at the moment, and it appears that new signings are taking a longer time to settle down at the club.
