Thilo Kehrer could feature v Viborg as West United confirm sixth summer signing

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Thilo Kehrer on Wednesday, and he could feature against Viborg on Thursday (18 August).

According to Jonty Colman, who works for Football London, Kehrer trained on Wednesday morning, and he could be used by David Moyes for Thursday’s European game.

West Ham will face Danish side Viborg in their first leg tie in the play-off qualifying round of the Europa Conference League at the London Stadium on Thursday evening.

Colman wrote on Twitter: “Thilo Kehrer was signed in time so has a chance of featuring tomorrow against Viborg. Did some training this morning.”

Terrific addition

Kehrer would be a brilliant addition for the Hammers.

As per Claret and Hugh (17 August), the Hammers have completed their sixth summer signing after they signed Kehrer from PSG for £10.1m, plus up to £5.9m in add-ons.

He is an experienced German centre-back who can also play as a full-back, and his versatility will come in handy for the Hammers.

This has been a massive transfer window for the Hammers, who have now spent over £100m on signing new players.

Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes, Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet and now Kehrer have joined the club, with the Hammers showing ambition in the market.

The Hammers probably are not done yet with their transfer dealings. They are still in the market to sign a left-back, with Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri being one of their targets.

The club is also looking to sign a midfielder, and Club Brugge’s Hans Vanaken has come up as a potential option.
