‘There’s a lot more to come’ – Moyes says West Ham not done after threatening top four

West Ham boss David Moyes said there’s more to come from his side as they pushed into the top four last night.

The Hammers moved into the Champions League spaces briefly after their 3-0 win over Sheffield United. Goals from Declan Rice, Issa Diop and Ryan Fredericks were enough to get a twelfth win of the season.

Speaking to BT Sport, Moyes said he’s starting a solid foundation for future teams to build on: “We’re a team in progress.

“We’re trying to grow and trying to get good foundations in place so that maybe in the future we can have regular good teams at the top of the league.

“So we’re enjoying it at the moment. Why would we not enjoy being in the position that we’re in?

“I just want the players to keep improving because I actually think there’s a lot more to come, we can play much better than we played tonight.

“We’re still striving to get the balance of the team correct, but we’re doing a decent job at the moment.”

West Ham

Can we do it?

Who’d have honestly thought this after losing our opening two games in August?

With 24 matches played, we find ourselves on 42 points, we’ve won 50% of our matches and have just moved two points clear of the champions. All without a recognised striker.

Moyes is working miracles at the London Stadium. It’s been the best period in the club’s history since moving grounds in 2016.

It’s very refreshing to hear the way he spoke after the match. Moyes also feels he has a point to prove after his stints managing Manchester United and Sunderland. No one is questioning his ability anymore, he’s done a remarkable job.

The manager has got the perfect blend of players at the moment. Experienced heads in Fabianski, Cresswell, Coufal and Lingard. And young, hungry talent, such as Rice, Soucek, Johnson and Bowen. It’s the best squad we’ve had in years.

It begs the question, can we qualify for Europe? Why not! Our next five games will be crucial. Away matches to City and United, as well as home games with Spurs, Leeds and Arsenal.

If we can come through these fixtures with seven to ten points, maybe then we can start to seriously think about Europe.

In other West Ham news, Moyes has detailed our advantage that piles the pressure on our European rivals.
