‘The day he retires will be heartbreaking’ – These West Ham fans react to Mark Noble hints
West Ham club captain Mark Noble has stated he doesn’t have long left in the team and has to enjoy every minute that he can.
The Hammers legend was speaking to whufc.com after the 4-0 win against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday. It was a result that saw us proceed to the 5th round of the FA Cup away to Manchester United.
Noble captained the side to victory and played a full 90 minutes for just the fourth time this season, as Davis Moyes has preferred Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice in the middle.
He rolled back the years on Saturday, leading the squad to a professional performance as he completed 95.4% of his 148 attempted passes [Wyscout].
Speaking after the game, Noble said how much he enjoyed the match: “I loved it out there, I’ve done this for many years now and haven’t really got that long left.
“You’ve got to enjoy every minute you can, it’s great to see the boys and the team doing so well. Being around it, being involved in games, and playing tonight and against Stockport.”
“I’ve just got to enjoy it, if you look at it there’s only a certain number of games I’m going to be involved in with left in west ham.
“I’m 34 in May. See what happens next year, but I really enjoyed it tonight.”
This season is Noble’s 17th with the club. He made his debut at the age of 17, at home to Sheffield United in 2004. He’s played for the club over 400 times and is currently our second-highest goal-scorer overall in the Premier League.
