TalkSPORT pundit: West Ham United cannot afford to fight relegation
West Ham cannot afford to fight a relegation battle, especially with the squad they have got, as per Gabby Agbonlahor.
Under David Moyes, the Hammers did extremely well in the past couple of seasons, and they narrowly missed out on a top-four finish.
However, they’ve started poorly this season, and find themselves in the relegation zone, and the TalkSPORT pundit suggests that Moyes is struggling to get his selection right.
“West Ham fans, they wanted the money to be spent on that squad. Third most in the Premier League in the transfer window,” said Agbonlahor on talkSPORT.
“After getting into the Europa League (semifinal) last season and how impressive they have been the last couple of seasons they cannot afford to have a season where they are fighting relegation.
“Yes, it’s only seven games gone. Four points. You look at Wolves at home. If they lost these games, the pressure would start on David Moyes because he can’t get the selection right at the moment.”
Improvement
A big improvement is needed after the international break.
West Ham spent big in the summer transfer window and Moyes is going through the initial problems of finding the right system.
It is never easy to find the balance when you sign loads of players in one window. But those signings were necessary to take the club to the next level.
So far, Moyes has really struggled to get his selection right, but he needs to get it right and that too at the earliest.
West Ham need points on board, and at the moment, they’re looking disjointed.
Some of the key players are out of form like Jarrod Bowen, and it is Moyes’ job to get them fixed after the break.
Wolves are also struggling like the Hammers. This is the game the Hammers must win. They need to get some wins, even if it is ugly, and get the confidence back into the side.
