TalkSPORT presenter suggests Declan Rice would be a good Man Utd signing
Tony Cascarino has claimed that West Ham midfielder Declan Rice ‘stunk of a Manchester United signing’ as he impressed in Friday’s win over Leeds.
The former Aston Villa forward and TalkSPORT host was blown away by Rice’s performance against Leeds as goals from Tomas Soucek and Angelo Ogbonna secured a vital 2-1 win.
Rice has been linked with a move to Chelsea in the past but Cascarino claimed it is Man United who should be looking at the Hammers ace.
Cascarino is quoted by The Mirror as saying, “Declan Rice was superb. He absolutely ran the show in midfield.
“He was up against Kalvin Phillips as well, who is a good player. I thought he just took the game by the scruff of the neck. He just stunk of a Manchester United signing to me. I was sat there thinking, ‘Wow!’”
Rice was particularly impressive on Friday night which may have some fans worried ahead of the January transfer window.
Rice is sure to be of interest to various top tier clubs when the January transfer window opens but it should take a monumental offer to prise our star man away from the club.
The 21-year-old has comfortably been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season and has gone from strength to strength at club level and on the international stage.
Rice’s stock only rose after he scored his first England goal earlier in the season and if Chelsea do come back in for their former target they will need to break the bank to secure his services.
Cascarino may believe Rice looks like a Man United signing but why would he want to leave West Ham for a club who are below them in the table?
All jokes aside, it would be a travesty if Rice was allowed to leave in January but he may be persuaded to stay if the Hammers can challenge for Europe this season.
In other West Ham news, we believe that Tomas Soucek’s aerial ability is David Moyes’ secret weapon.
