talkSPORT host Jim White delighted with West Ham United day out for Fulham victory

Jim White was delighted by his day out at West Ham at the weekend as he praised both the team and the stadium after victory over Fulham.

The Hammers recorded a very solid 3-1 win over their London rivals, coming from behind via goals from Jarrod Bowen, Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio, although the Italian’s strike had to survive a long VAR review for potential handball.

The result lifted the team up to 13th, and White was impressed by the Irons on the pitch, as well as with the setting for the action – the often-derided London Stadium.

Writing on his personal Twitter account after the game on Sunday (9 October) the talkSPORT host said: “Really enjoyed today at the London Stadium – Marco Silva not happy but West Ham were well worth it”.

He followed up with a second post with a photo of the London Stadium from the outside, saying: “Love that football location – it’s grown on me!”

White clearly had a lovely day out and didn’t have a negative word to say about the club, which is rare enough on the whole when the stadium is involved.

The move from the Boleyn Ground in 2016 was massively unpopular with the fans at the time, and the financial arrangement has drawn plenty of criticism ever since.

Amid the successes of the second David Moyes era, and particularly the Europa League run last year, there is now a growing support for the club’s new Stratford home and White is clearly a part of that.

How long his sunny outlook towards everything claret and blue lasts once he has been back in the studio with Simon Jordan for a few days is another matter, as the former Crystal Palace chairman never likes to miss an opportunity to have a dig at the club’s owners.

The win, off the back of a solid away performance at Anderlecht in midweek (6 October) and a victory over Wolves last weekend (1 October), was exactly what was needed to continue momentum.

Scamacca may have been lucky to see his goal stand considering similar situations around the league this week, but he produced a lovely finish to make it three in three.

With him and last season’s danger-men Bowen and Antonio both finding the net there are signs that things might be getting back to normal with the club after a difficult start.
