Supercomputer predicts whether West Ham will end horrific Premier League record vs Aston Villa

West Ham United host high-flying Aston Villa on Sunday and will be looking to end a concerning record in the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are languishing in the relegation zone, 18th in the table and two points adrift of safety.

Georginio Rutter’s 91st-minute equaliser on Sunday saw the Hammers miss the chance to pull themselves clear of the bottom three, as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Brighton.

It means that West Ham are looking for their first victory in four games this weekend, but the Opta Supercomputer believes their winless run will continue.

West Ham need a miracle to overcome Aston Villa

Aston Villa will travel to the London Stadium high on confidence, after beating league leaders Arsenal with a late Emi Buendia winner last Saturday.

Unai Emery’s side have now won nine of their last 10 Premier League matches, and are sitting third in the table ahead of this weekend’s game.

Unsurprisingly, the Opta Supercomputer thinks that Villa will take all three points away from East London, giving them a 53.2 per cent chance of victory.

West Ham will need a miracle if they are going to climb out of the relegation zone, as they have only been given a 24 per cent shot of victory, with the draw at 22.7 per cent.

West Ham’s horrific Aston Villa record set to continue

West Ham will go into the game against Aston Villa as big underdogs, and the East London outfit don’t have history on their side either.

In their last five Premier League clashes with the Villans, West Ham have failed to pick up a single win, drawing two and losing three of them.

Last season, the Hammers did manage to salvage a point away at Villa Park, as Emerson’s second-half equaliser cancelled out Jacob Ramsey’s early goal.

Nuno’s side will hope they can at least replicate the performance they managed back in January, and take a draw away from Sunday’s match.

However, given the recent form of the two sides, it is very hard to see anything other than an Aston Villa triumph.
