Stuart Pearce reveals West Ham transfer target criteria
West Ham assistant coach Stuart Pearce has revealed exactly what the club are looking for in potential transfers while on talkSPORT.
The former England left-back is currently part of David Moyes’ staff at the London Stadium, with the team exceeding expectations over the last 18 months.
But a run of just one win in seven games has seen speculation about how they can strengthen the squad and who they’ll target in the January transfer window.

Speaking live-on-air on talkSPORT on Thursday morning, Pearce revealed what it is that West Ham are looking for that is more important than anything else.
“We certainly are doing the work in trying to get the people in,” he said. “They’ve got to be the right people, that’s for sure.
“We can buff out the squad and bring people in, but getting the right people is the most important thing.
“As for David, he wants to make sure the right people come through the door with the right work ethic, that sort of thing.
“If the right ones are available at the right price, then we will certainly be in the mix for it. If they’re not then we will sit tight and see what we will do.
“That’s the bottom line and that’s been the proviso in the last few windows. Make sure the right people coming in.”

Character
Part of the success that Moyes’ side has had over the last period of time is down to the character and team spirit within the squad.
They have built a family-like bond between them and anyone that was to join that group absolutely needs to fit in or risk causing a big issue in the changing room and ruining the progress.
It’s clear that the Hammers need a striker and a defender in their squad to help boost numbers, with injuries and lack of options being a problem currently.
It’s good news that West Ham are indeed looking to improve, and it’s also positive that they won’t be looking to just sign anyone for the sake of it.
The Hammers have a real chance of making progress in Europe in the new year and qualifying again for the competition next season, so any added options will be a bonus.
