Stuart Pearce admits he got it all wrong over West Ham player after what he saw him do vs Man United
West Ham United suffered a blow to their Premier League survival chances as Benjamin Sesko scored a last-minute equaliser for Manchester United on Tuesday evening.
West Ham drew 1-1 with Man United at London Stadium, a result that leaves them two points adrift of safety.
Tomas Soucek opened the scoring for the Hammers, and it looked to be their day when Casemiro’s header was ruled out for offside.
However, Sesko expertly fired home in the 96th minute to rescue a point for Man United, and leave Nuno Espirito Santo’s side wondering what could’ve been.
Callum Wilson shocks Stuart Pearce
Callum Wilson looked certain to leave West Ham in the winter transfer window, following the signings of Taty Castellanos and Pablo.
However, Wilson then scored a 96th-minute winner against Tottenham in the middle of January, persuading Nuno to keep him until the end of the season.
The 33-year-old dropped down to the bench against Man United, but came on for the final 20 minutes as the Hammers looked to see out the game.
With the score still at 1-0, Wilson picked up the ball in his own half and drove all the way into the box, before being halted by Leny Yoro.
Speaking on talkSPORT, former West Ham defender Stuart Pearce was left surprised at the pace of the centre-forward.
Pearce said: “I’ve got to say, I thought Wilson had lost a yard or two of pace. But the United players couldn’t get near him there. That’s incredible.”
Why Wilson is still crucial for West Ham
Wilson has been very inconsistent so far this season, but at times, he has stepped up when West Ham have needed him.
The former Newcastle United man has scored five Premier League goals this term, as well as picking up one assist, earning the Hammers some crucial points along the way.

With Castellanos and Pablo now in the squad, he will be mainly utilised off the bench, but he still has a role to play as the East London side fight for survival.
As he showed with his late burst against Man United, Wilson still has the sharpness needed to make a difference in the Premier League, and could pop up with some important goals before the end of the campaign.
