Steve Potts expected to be named West Ham U-23s manager
Former West Ham defender and current under-23s coach Steve Potts is likely to be handed a promotion and be named their head coach, according to ExWHUemployee.
On his Patreon page last week, Ex wrote that the Hammers’ current U-23s head coach Dmitri Halajko is expected to be shown the door in the coming weeks.
It’s understood that the club have made their decision and according to his information, have opted to promote from within rather than bringing someone in from outside.

He said on the West Ham Way podcast, “The replacement could be Steve Potts which would be good as there are a couple of ex-players in the academy.
“No one can question his commitment and love to West Ham.”
Good move
An argument could be made to get a specialised juniors/reserves coach from outside to shape things up and get the players accustomed to a certain playing style.
However, giving the job to Potts makes a lot of sense as he’s a former player and understands the fabric of this football club.

Not only did he play for the first team, but he graduated from the academy and spent nearly two decades on the club’s books before moving to Dagenham & Redbridge.
Apart from his playing career, he’s also been a coach at West Ham for a decade so he’s polished his skills and has proven why he deserves the job.
He’s been with the U-16s, U-18s and eventually the U-23s which means certain players have been promoted to the first team under his tutelage.
We back him to do a phenomenal job should he get it as we do not expect anyone else to be good enough for it.
