Stan Collymore predicts result of West Ham United v Manchester United in Premier League

Stan Collymore has predicted West Ham to lose 2-1 to Manchester United in their Premier League clash on Sunday (7 May).

The Hammers welcome the Red Devils to the London Stadium with both clubs in need of points to achieve their goals this season.

The hosts are desperate to climb away from the relegation zone, while the visitors need to push away from Liverpool as they look to secure a top-four spot.

Collymore believes the travelling side will prevail at the London Stadium, with Erik ten Hag’s men defeating David Moyes’s men 2-1.

“The Hammers were disappointing against Manchester City and I expect a comfortable win for City’s neighbours,” for the Sunday People (Page 60, 7 May).

Both clubs had just recently been full of confidence and were looking very likely of achieving their respective goals.

Manchester United had a huge gap over Liverpool, but a superb run of form from the latter means there is now just one point separating the two sides, although the former do have two games in hand.

West Ham meanwhile had looked very assured in their chances of avoiding the drop, defeating the likes of Fulham and Bournemouth and drawing with Arsenal.

But they have now lost their last three matches, a miserable run which sees them sit just four points above the relegation zone.

Moreover, they conceded nine goals in those three games, a worrying issue that Moyes will want to fix as soon as possible, beginning in the clash with the Red Devils.

Safety wouldn’t be secured with a victory, but the manager will be keen to pick up all three points from the match before they host AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League semi-final on Thursday (11 May).
