Spotted: West Ham United star Tomas Soucek in painful incident as footage emerges from Czech Republic v Poland

West Ham star Tomas Soucek found himself on the receiving end of a nasty kick to the head during the Czech Republic’s clash with Poland on Friday 17 November.

Soucek started and scored a 49th-minute equaliser for his country during their UEFA European Championship Qualifying 1-1 draw with Poland.

Footage posted by westhamfootball to their official X platform (19 November) shows the midfielder taking a boot to the head as he challenged for possession.

The 28-year-old was able to finish the match and help his side see out a result which leaves them on the verge of qualification for next year’s European Championships in Germany.

Key player

Soucek has now scored a goal in each of his last two games, netting the winner for West Ham against Nottingham Forest in their 3-2 thriller at the London Stadium on Sunday 12 November.

His goal against Poland on Friday night was just as important, as it helped his nation take a big stride towards qualification for next year’s European Championships, and the boot to the face, which left him with some noticeable wounds, demonstrates that the midfielder is willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win.

Soucek

This is an attitude which West Ham supporters will have seen for themselves over the past few seasons and is one which is clearly showing no signs of letting up.

With some big games coming up for David Moyes’ side, and another year of European adventures ahead, those supporters will be hoping that Soucek returns to London unscathed and ready to battle for his club badge as well as he has done for the national team badge.

In other West Ham news, the club are eyeing a move for a teenage starlet who is being scouted by a host of Premier League clubs.
