Spotted: Pablo Fornals seen constantly checking phone at West Ham v Bournemouth amid Real Betis transfer

Pablo Fornals was spotted constantly checking his phone in the tunnel at London Stadium as West Ham battled out a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, according to the Daily Mail.

The Spaniard arrived at the stadium with the Hammers team but was not named in the matchday squad amid a proposed £7million move to Real Betis.

With such little time left until the transfer window closes at 11 pm, Fornals transfer to Spain hangs in the balance as any hope of him cementing a spot in the West Ham starting XI also slips away.

Time is running out

Hours have quickly turned into minutes on transfer deadline day, with little time left for last-gasp transfers to go through on 1 February.

Fornals’ career at London Stadium, sadly, has looked over for many months now. He has been an excellent servant for the club since arriving in 2019, with Manuel Pellegrini anxious to link up with the player again.

Those hopes could be about to end, however, especially considering the constant checking of his phone to make sure the move has gone through in time. If not, he could be stuck at London Stadium for a further miserable six months.

The 27-year-old is, by no means, a bad player. With Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus at David Moyes’ disposal, once all fit, the chance of him being selected in the starting XI is significantly reduced.

He has made just four Premier League starts this season, with 11 further league appearances coming as a substitute. Moyes has made it very clear that West Ham can manage without him now, although another signing would be nice.

In other West Ham news, Moyes and Steidten were spotted in conversation before the game.
