Southampton confident of signing West Ham-linked winger Tete

Southampton are confident of winning the race for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Tete, who is also being reportedly targeted by a host of clubs, including West Ham.

According to 90min, the likes of Brentford, Brighton, Everton, and Leicester along with the Hammers are among the clubs that are keen to sign the 22-year-old winger.

Clubs from the continent like AC Milan, Atalanta, Napoli, Porto, Benfica and Ajax have been keeping an eye on him, but he is apparently heading towards St Mary’s in the summer.

Pass it on

The Brazilian is an exciting talent. He has managed 10 goals for Shakhtar Donetsk this season before the league has been put on hold due to a war crisis.

This is an unprecedented situation in Ukraine following the Russian invasion of the country towards the end of February.

FIFA and UEFA have made a provision that Ukrainian and Russian clubs’ foreign players could join elsewhere, but Premier League have blocked such moves. It means, Tete, can only join an English club in the summer.

West Ham

West Ham have shown an interest, but David Moyes should pass down the opportunity.

The summer transfer window is absolutely vital for the Hammers, where Moyes needs to be backed in the market to bring in players of his choice.

Signing a striker, a central midfielder, a central defender, a left-back, and another attacking midfielder should be top of Moyes’ priority list.

Tete is a good player, but there are better options available in the market.

In other West Ham news, the club are chasing a six-figure deal to sign this exciting teenage talent from Scotland.
