Sources shares if Declan Rice and Lucas Paqueta will claim new West Ham United bonus in Europe

West Ham United players including their key stars will not receive any bonuses if they win the Europa Conference League, according to the Daily Mail.

The Hammers face a pivotal semi-final second-leg tie against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday [18 May] with a crucial 2-1 lead and are on the verge of playing a first European final for the first time since 1965.

However, according to a report in the Daily Mail [16 May, page 66] should West Ham win the competition none of their key players will receive any bonuses for their famous win.

It is partly due to the Conference League being so new having only come to the fore in 2021.

And sources have confirmed that even West Ham’s newer signings – such as Lucas Paqueta are not due to receive any additional money if they win the competition.

Unfortunate

It will be a superb and historic win should West Ham United record their first major European trophy and it’s a shame that many of their stars won’t receive any bonuses for the win given how unprecedented it is for the club.

The Irons have endured a tough and difficult domestic campaign in the Premier League this season, but to get to this stage of the Conference League despite their difficulties is some achievement.

West Ham

It’s totally understandable that bonuses won’t be handed out due to the newness of the competition and players not having any idea of the competition before it came about so they can come to an agreement in their contract.

However, you can argue the West Ham United board never saw this coming, hence players like Lucas Paqueta and Danny Ings not having any bonuses agreement.

Even if they did, it simply won’t be fair for them to achieve it and players who have been at the club for years fail to. The players do deserve something should they win it as it could well be their most impressive major triumph in history.
