Sky Sports: West Ham United submitted deal sheet to sign Duvan Zapata

West Ham United submitted a late deal sheet to the Premier League to sign Atalanta forward Duvan Zapata, according to Sky Sports.

It is reported that the Irons were looking to bring the Colombian to the London Stadium on a straight loan deal until the end of the season.

The Irons eventually failed, though, and ended the window with nothing to show for despite all of their efforts.

Sky even report that West Ham’s interest in Zapata goes back to 2013.

The powerhouse striker was playing in Argentina back then for Estudiantes, with nothing to show for all those years.

Newcastle were also interested in a late move for the South American, but even their mega-bucks couldn’t get a deal over the line.

West Ham

Not good enough.

Rob Newman and his team, alongside David Moyes had months to prepare for this window, and yet we have nothing to show for it.

The Irons have never been in a better position to really kick on and fight for European football consistently, but to do that, you have to keep strengthening your side.

Manchester City are constantly adding players to their squad, no matter how much quality they have, but yet, we were left twiddling our thumbs.

The money was there too, with mega bids going in for the likes of Kalvin Phillips at Leeds throughout the window.

It is just a case of majorly bad planning, and not knowing when to give in and move on to other targets, with deals for the likes of Duje Caleta-Car, despite being a defender, going on for way too long.

Deal sheet or not going in, this isn’t anyone’s fault apart from our own.
