Sky Sports: West Ham United announcement within 24 hours as Tim Steidten appointment nears

West Ham United are set to announce the appointment of Tim Steidten as the club’s new technical director within the next 24 hours, according to Sky Sports.

It’s believed a deal is now being finalised for the 44-year-old German to join the club as the Hammers undergo a backroom restructure.

Sky Sports have since revealed that an announcement could be made within the next 24 hours.

“West Ham are close to appointing Tim Steidten as their technical director. A deal has been agreed in principle and an announcement is expected within the next 24 hours,” said presenter Jasper Taylor (29 June).

Needed

Something different is now required in terms of a footballing structure.

The decision to place Mark Noble in the technical director role was strange. It takes a very different type of mind to make sensible decisions on the transfer front.

The German head to the London Stadium with an excellent reputation and a desire to use analytics and data to drive decisions. This is exactly what is needed – particularly with a huge fee set to arrive for Declan Rice.

West Ham

Rice is set to depart for a British-record £105million and the incoming transfer fee has to be used extremely wisely. There’s a golden chance for West Ham’s squad to improve.

The majority of West Ham fans will be delighted to see the never-ending Rice saga come to a close. The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club for the last three transfer windows and with his contract entering its latter stages, now is the right time for him to make the move to a Champions League club.

Finally, it feels as if the Hammers’ summer business can really kick into gear.
