Sky Sports suggest West Ham United will sack David Moyes if they lose v Fulham

West Ham manager David Moyes will be sacked if the club lose their next match against Fulham on Saturday (8 April), according to Sky Sports presenter Hayley McQueen.

The boss is under huge pressure in the dugout following the humiliating 5-1 home defeat to Newcastle on Wednesday (5 April).

Moyes will remain in charge for the match at Fulham, but his job is now on the line amid a miserable campaign for the club.

“David Moyes has at the moment got the backing of the West Ham board,” McQueen said on Sky Sports, according to Football Daily.

“He is going to be in charge for the game at Fulham on Saturday. It’s business as usual, but we are told that Fulham is a game he cannot afford to lose.”

West Ham

Huge occasion

The Hammers were feeling very upbeat following their victory against Southampton on Sunday (2 April), with home supporters leaving the London Stadium in high spirits.

But such is the ever-changing nature of football that those same supporters were left dejected after the defeat to Newcastle, who served up a reminder of just how perilous West Ham’s situation really is.

The upcoming meeting with Fulham is a huge occasion in their season for several reasons, the main one of course being the future of Moyes, who could lose his job if things don’t go well for the Hammers.

But in the wider scheme of things it represents a very good opportunity for the club to pick up some much-needed points, with West Ham then required to travel to Belgium to play Gent in the Europa Conference League on Thursday (13 April).

Not only will they be tired from that trip, but they return home to host league leaders Arsenal just three days later in what will be one of their toughest fixtures of the entire season.

Moyes will, therefore, look to throw everything at the Cottagers this weekend in order to put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone.
