Sky Sports shares new update on West Ham United ace Lucas Paqueta, 90% development emerges

There is a “90 per cent chance” that Lucas Paqueta’s move from West Ham to Manchester City is off, according to Sky Sports.

The publication reported on its website on Friday (18 August) that the deal to bring the Brazilian to Manchester is on hold.

Paqueta, who joined the Hammers from Ligue 1 club Lyon last summer, has five goals and seven assists from his 42 appearances in claret and blue.

Great news

It may be bad news for Manchester City fans, but it is great news for West Ham fans, who will be delighted to be keeping hold of their star midfielder.

He took his time to settle into life at the London Stadium, but ended the season in superb fashion, playing a key role as the Hammers stayed in the Premier League and won the Europa Conference League.

Things will be stepped up this time around given how they will compete in the Europa League and how they have lost their captain Declan Rice to Arsenal.

Paqueta’s presence has become even more crucial since Rice’s exit, with the Brazilian starting the new season off in defensive midfield, demonstrating his versatility and importance to manager David Moyes.

There is, however, still plenty of time remaining in the summer transfer window, meaning a deal could still be struck between West Ham and Manchester City for the midfield star.

In other West Ham news, a Hammers-linked player is “attracted” by a move to the London Stadium this summer.
