Sky Sports share Igor Julio fitness update from Rush Green ahead of West Ham vs Tottenham

West Ham face Tottenham in another London derby this weekend

The Hammers welcome Spurs to the London Stadium on Saturday in their first fixture after the international break.

West Ham secured a 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest last time out for their first three points of the Premier League season.

The Hammers were soundly defeated by Chelsea in their first home game of the season and will want to make amends against another London rival.

Graham Potter will have some starting XI decisions to make, and he has been handed a fitness boost ahead of the game.

Igor Julio available for selection for West Ham vs Tottenham

Igor Julio joined West Ham on deadline day, arriving on loan from Brighton to bolster the defensive ranks.

The Brazilian could be in line for his Hammers debut, with Sky Sports reporting that he is ready to be included.

Johnny Phillips, reporting from Rush Green, gave an update on the defender’s fitness live on air (11 September, 12:35pm).

“It’s a question all West Ham fans want answering. And yes, he has trained and is fit,” Phillips said. “He’s been training all week, in what is a real boost.

“New signings can often not quite be there in terms of match fitness, but Igor will be considered for selection this weekend.”

Graham Potter will be delighted with this news, as West Ham have struggled defensively this campaign.

Igor’s arrival at West Ham was influenced by Potter, and it seems he could slot right into the starting XI.

Igor Julio could solve West Ham’s defensive woes

West Ham have been poor defensively this season, conceding eight goals across the opening three games.

Igor was brought to the club to help fix these issues and may get his chance against Tottenham.

Potter should trust in his new defender and put him in from the start to see if he can make an immediate impact.

Igor could make himself an instant hero amongst Hammers fans if he were to help them beat their London rivals
