Sky Sports reporter blown away by what Lukasz Fabianski did for West Ham United v Lincoln

Russ Taylor was blown away by what Lukasz Fabianski did for West Ham in the first half of the game against Lincoln City on Wednesday (27 September).

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Special (08:30pm), the reporter said the Polish keeper pulled off an “absolute world-class save” to deny Reeco Hackett-Fairchild in the first half.

That stop from the 38-year-old with the score at 0-0 proved to be incredibly important as the Hammers secured a 1-0 win, courtesy of a second-half goal from Tomas Soucek against the Imps.

“Lincoln have had a fantastic chance,” said Taylor. “They broke, the ball went wide to Alastair Smith, he chipped the ball in, Reeco Hackett makes perfect contact and Lukasz Fabianski pulls out an absolute world-class save, clawing the ball away.”

Deserves credit

There is no doubt that Fabianski deserves huge credit for his role in helping secure West Ham a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

It was an incredible save from the keeper as he showed great reflexes to keep the forward’s header out from point-blank range and ensure the scoreline remained 0-0.

It would’ve made things extremely difficult for the Hammers if they had gone behind, but he was on hand to make sure that didn’t happen.

He has been understandably frustrated to have been replaced as the Irons’ number one this season after holding the position for several years.

But he continued to show that he is committed to the team and he won’t have done his chances of earning his spot back any harm with his night’s work.
