Sky Sports pundit slams West Ham mainstay who ‘let them down’ before Newcastle defeat
Graeme Souness has claimed that Mark Noble has shot West Ham United in the foot with his open criticism of the Irons board.
Noble publically slammed both David Gold and David Sullivan after they made the decision to sell promising winger Grady Diangana.
West Ham received £18million for a player who had only made a handful of Premier League appearances, although that didn’t phase the likes of Noble and Jack Wilshere who were left fuming.
Souness slammed Noble, claiming that he threw a “hand grenade” into the Irons dressing room before their 2-0 defeat against Newcastle.
“In my opinion, Mark Noble let them down,” he said on Sky Sports.
“Eight days ago, he threw a hand grenade into the mix and he’s questioning, if not the manager, people further up the tree who’ve made that footballing decision.
“Does he know the ins and outs of the finances at West Ham? Where he feels like he can say that if he felt that he should have kept it to himself.”
David Moyes insisted that the sale of Diangana had no effect on the Hammers, despite their less-than-convincing display in the defeat against Newcastle.
West Ham had 15 shots on goal, kept more possession and completed more passes but never looked liked scoring as the Magpies somewhat eased to victory at the London Stadium [WhoScored].
Souness disagreed with Moyes, claiming that the public criticism will have effected the squad and that it was clear to see on Saturday.
The Irons need to strengthen desperately, and selling Diangana may give them the power and financial backing to do so.
