Sky Sports pundit slams David Moyes-Gianluca Scamacca decision after West Ham v Everton
Don Hutchison is not impressed by David Moyes’ handling of Gianluca Scamacca after West Ham suffered yet another defeat against Everton.
The Hammers summer signing has been used sparingly since his move from Sassuolo despite joining to be the first choice striker.
Hutchison, a pundit for Sky Sports, cannot understand the logic behind playing Michail Antonio over him as the Jamaican is not getting goals for the club.
Speaking on Premier League Productions’ Weekend Wrap-up (19 September, 15:47), he said, “Scamacca one is baffling to me. He’s played well in Europe and Moyes is not starting him. That’s a little bit bizarre. It could be a lack of bravery that he doesn’t want to play both Antonio and him together.”
These decisions may have worked for Moyes in the past at the club but many players have now reached the end of their cycle.
If they’re going to play in the same role for over three years in a row with there being no real improvement, they’re automatically going to stagnate.
There have been decent additions but that doesn’t make sense if Moyes is not willing to play them as he’s sticking to the same old players even though they aren’t performing well.
We cannot understand why Maxwel Cornet, Scamacca, Flynn Downes and Emerson did not play in the game against Everton.
Tomas Soucek, Aaron Cresswell and Vladimir Coufal are continuing to be picked despite putting in average performances every week.
We do not want this to happen but such performances result in managers losing their jobs and that will be a tragedy after the great summer the club have had.
