Sky Sports pundit admits Tomas Soucek regret after West Ham United star shines v Burnley
Sue Smith had a funny reaction to Tomas Soucek’s goal on Saturday afternoon as the midfielder strike saw West Ham take a 2-1 victory against Burnley.
After a goalless first half, Burnley opened the scoring through a Jay Rodriguez penalty, before Divin Mubama forced Dara O’Shea into an own goal and Soucek scored
Smith was excited to see two quick goals from West Ham, completing a dramatic comeback with the Hammers first scoring in the 86th minute and then five minutes later in injury time.

However, speaking live on Sky Sports News, joy quickly turned to devastation as Smith admitted, “I took him out [of my FPL team].”
It was a seemingly costly mistake, as Soucek tallied up a total of eight points, including a bonus point for his performance in midfield.
However, the Soccer Saturday host Caroline Barker, who was filling in for Simon Thomas, jokingly replied, “But she’ll still be top of the league anyway.”
Sparing West Ham blushes
Despite a poor season so far for the Czech midfielder, with some fans calling for his exit from the starting XI, Soucek has come to the rescue once more. That opinion could be about to turn.

The match against Burnley on Saturday marks his fifth of the season where he has scored at least seven points in FPL, helping West Ham to victories over Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest, and now the Clarets, and draws against Bournemouth and Newcastle United.
While missing Jarrod Bowen through injury, the visitors were begging for a hero to save them against the team rock-bottom of the Premier League table – up-stepped Soucek.
Soucek is possibly an FPL asset going under the radar this season. But he is a player to bring in for a game or two, rather than depending on him to grab a goal or assist each week.
With 48 total points, the Hammers matchwinner is outperforming the likes of Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku, Liverpool’s Diogo Jota, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Simon Adringra, and teammate Lucas Paqueta.
Only Bowen and James Ward-Prowse have more FPL points in West Ham’s squad.
In other West Ham news, a BBC pundit has admitted that he’ll come out of retirement just to play with a West Ham star after what he did recently.
