Sky Sports host Dave Jones predicts result of West Ham United v Arsenal in Carabao Cup

Sky Sports host Dave Jones has made his prediction for West Ham United’s Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal tonight at the London Stadium.

The Hammers host the Gunners, with David Moyes’ side keen to get back to winning ways after consecutive defeats to Olympiacos and Everton last week while Mikel Arteta’s side smashed Sevilla and Sheffield United.

And Jones is giving West Ham little to no hope of getting a good result, telling Super 6 Predictions (1 November) that he sees Arsenal qualifying for the next round with “relative ease”.

“Ipswich are playing superbly and I think they will get past a Fulham side who have been struggling for Premier League form this season,” he said. “Their brilliant season will continue here.

“Man Utd and Newcastle will go to penalties I feel with Newcastle a bit thin on the ground, and Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea will get through with relative ease.”

Underdogs

As always, West Ham are the underdogs going into a game against one of the “Big Six” and that’s the way we like it usually.

Arsenal have been in great form and are still unbeaten domestically this season, but they have shown weaknesses and we can exploit them.

If David Moyes chooses to go with his strongest lineup then we will be physically aggressive and technically sound, which is always a problem for teams that Arsenal want to try and play their way against.

It won’t be easy and we’re underdogs for a reason, but the team Moyes has and the way he likes to play is set up to cause the Gunners problems and saying that they will qualify easily seems like a big misjudgement on Jones’ part.

If we score first it will be even tougher for them and will get the crowd going, so lets give Declan Rice the worst possible return we can by getting a big win against the odds.
