Simon Jordan: West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen deserves England call-up
Simon Jordan has claimed on talkSPORT that England boss Gareth Southgate has to include West Ham attacker Jarrod Bowen in his next international squad.
The Hammers ace has been one of his side’s best players in recent months, but he continues to be overlooked by the Three Lions selectors.
England have a star-studded squad, but not many of their current attacking options on the wings have impressed like Bowen, and Jordan believes only by handing him a chance can it be proven if he has what it takes to play internationally.
The former Crystal Palace owner said: “Is he an international class player? The question could be asked about a lot of players! He’s a very good player, but is he an international class?
“If Southgate is picking on form, there has to be a place in the next international games for Bowen.
“If he continues with this vein of form, he has to be in the squad. Whether he is an international class or only good enough, you’ll only know once you put him there.”
Bowen has five goals and seven assists in 21 league games so far in 2021-22, with three other goals and an assist to his name across other competitions after ending last season with eight goals and five assists in 38 league games.
He has been a very consistent performer for David Moyes’ side since arriving from Hull City in January 2020 and there is no doubt that he has done enough to earn a maiden international call-up.
Bowen does not only deliver the goals, his work rate off the ball is very impressive, and England could do with such a player.
There are around 10 months left until the World Cup, and the attacker surely has eyes on being on that plane to Qatar.
He is attracting the likes of Liverpool for a reason, and more suitors will likely come forward for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Bowen has proven himself in the Championship, is proving himself in the Premier League and many are backing him to prove himself with the England national team.
In other West Ham news, an amazing attacker is making personal arrangements for Hammers switch in January.
