Simon Jordan reacts instantly as Lopetegui sack update emerges at West Ham

Simon Jordan played the role of peacemaker after news emerged that West Ham will hold a meeting about Julen Loepetegui’s future.

Jim White revealed on Wednesday (4 December) that the Hammers boardroom is set to hold talks in the next 72 hours to discuss the manager following the 3-1 defeat to Leicester City on Tuesday 3 December.

The Spaniard has struggled to gain the fanbase’s trust since replacing David Moyes during the summer, with the Hammers sitting 14th in the Premier League table after 14 games.

Speaking live via talkSPORT [4 December, 10:20am], Jordan said: “Only they know. Ultimately, you’ve got two versions. The version they see every day in training, with green shoots and the building towards something.

“And the version on Saturday afternoon or Tuesday night where they’re not performing very well. If you believe more than the performance and that the process is going to come through, then you stay with it. If you don’t know more, you listen to the fans.

“Looking at the performance yesterday, while the structure doesn’t look right, with due respect to the game and looked without any investment, you would struggle to work out how West Ham lost 3-1.”

West Ham United to sack Julen Lopetegui in next 72 hours?

The fans who were chanting for Lopetegui’s sack at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night will be cheering about the idea of a boardroom meeting in the next three days.

However, it remains to be seen if the much-needed decision will be made by David Sullivan, with the owner known to stick by managers, even during their worst moments at the London Stadium.

Moyes was given until the end of the 2023/24 campaign to decide on his West Ham future, a decision that was lambasted by the Hammers faithful, and the fans are making their feelings known once again.

Much to their delight, the 3-1 defeat to Leicester could be Lopetegui’s final actions in charge as the board plans to meet to discuss his future after just 16 matches in charge across all competitions.

There is absolutely nowhere to hide for the head coach. While it was a decent attacking performance at the King Power Stadium, the defending was shocking, and so a 3-1 loss was deserved, and so too is his sacking.

In other West Ham news, David Sullivan must take immediate action over Julen Lopetegui after the 3-1 loss v Leicester City.
