Simon Jordan not happy with David Moyes after West Ham United admission
Simon Jordan has been left unhappy with West Ham United boss David Moyes after he claimed he had to rotate his side for their Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool.
The Hammers crashed out of the league cup in the quarter-final stages with an embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side on Wednesday (20 December) with Jarrod Bowen’s goal the only moment of positivity in the clash.
Moyes made six changes to the side that had beaten Wolves in the Premier League, citing the Irons’ fixture congestion as the reason for rotation, an excuse that left Jordan rather irritated following the game.

Speaking on talkSPORT (21 December) he said: “The manager has turned around and suggested that he needs to rotate because his team has played just as many games, blah, blah, blah, blah.
“But you only play the quarter-finals of a cup once a year at the very best, so isn’t that the game that you turn up in? I don’t like to criticise David, not because I like him, but because I think he is worthy of more praise than he is criticism.
“I do see this constant scenario that some of the West Ham fanbase aren’t having David Moyes which I find perplexing.”
Priorities on display
If any West Ham supporters were questioning where Moyes and the Irons’ priorities lie this season, the team selection at Anfield on Wednesday night is the perfect demonstration of what competitions the Hammers are targeting success in this season.
Moyes isn’t blessed with immense depth in his playing squad and the Irons’ success in all competitions this season has seen the fixtures come thick and fast at the London Stadium this season. Rotation was always going to be required at some stage.

As Jordan suggested, it is disappointing to see West Ham let a genuine chance of silverware pass them by, but had Moyes started a full-strength side against Liverpool and lost James Ward-Prowse and Lucas Paqueta to injury, he would have received criticism for that decision.
Hopefully, West Ham will be fit and ready for a busy festive schedule in the Premier League after several key players received a midweek rest. If the Irons are successful in the league and Europe this season, no one will complain about their poor Carabao Cup exit.
