Simon Jordan doubles down on West Ham United and UEFA Europa Conference League in Twitter argument with fan

Simon Jordan doubles down on his admission that going on a European cup run will do West Ham no good in the event of relegation.

The talkSPORT host responded to a fan about the style of football at the club being “Dreadful” and he thinks that doing well in the UEFA Europa Conference League will do them no favours.

A Hammers fan and journalist Mark Carlaw called Jordan out for his comments to which he issued a response on Twitter.

He wrote, “Context! I said on the show, what good is winning a third-rate European competition if you got relegated from the premier league. It was a response to a West Ham caller saying European form has masked 18 months of dreadful football!”

Spot on

There is no putting it in a simpler way, a cup run is not going to be enough unless they don’t improve their league form.

Even if they win the Conference League, playing in the Championship isn’t going to be beneficial as they’ll already lose a considerable amount of money by getting relegated.

In addition to that, players will also be needed to be given certain bonuses for winning the competition which will be another financial mess for the Hammers.

The best thing for them right now is to prioritise their league form rather than playing strong teams in both competitions.

If they do happen to go on a good run in Europe and ensure that they have their strongest and fittest side available in the Premier League, then it makes a lot of sense.

David Moyes is fighting for his job in every game but he’s got to change something or the board need to then replace him.
