Simon Jordan dismisses David Moyes-West Ham £100m theory

Simon Jordan has dismissed David Moyes’ suggestion that West Ham have placed nine-digit valuations on some of their players.

The Irons boss told talkSPORT last week that “we’ve got some players that we value at £100million and we won’t be selling them”.

That follows on from Moyes saying in March that Declan Rice is worth more than £100million [Sky Sports].

Speaking via talkSPORT on Monday morning [16/08/21], a day after the east London club won their opening game of their Premier League season against Newcastle United, ex-Crystal Palace owner Jordan hit back at Moyes’ claim.

He said: “The issue with West Ham…let’s be clear about this nonsense you [Jim White] keep trotting out about David Moyes saying he’s got a £100million player.

“He hasn’t got a £100million player because if he’s got a £100million player someone would be bidding £100milllion for him and they would be selling him.

“If West Ham are the only people in the room who value him at that then he’s not one is he.”

White added a message to West Ham fans at the end of the discussion, saying: “Don’t let GSB dominate your thoughts, let Moyes and what he’s trying to do with the team dominate your thoughts.”

Worth what we want

With all the crazy fees banded about the transfer market nowadays, it’s certainly not surprising to hear £100m fees for mentioned for England internationals.

Let’s face it, Moyes may have referenced “players” at West Ham recently, but we all know the only player worth anywhere near that at the London Stadium is Rice.

He’s proven in the Premier League, a European Championship finalist, and still just 22-years-old.

As a midfielder, he’s pretty much the full package, apart from his lack of goals.

Therefore, teams will have to cough up serious dough to prise him from our clutches.

We can foresee a scenario where he leaves within the next two years, but expect the buying club to spend near the £100million mark.
