Teddy Sheringham backs West Ham ace with problem to ‘come alive’ under Moyes
Teddy Sheringham has backed West Ham United forward Sebastien Haller to come alive under David Moyes.
The club-record has only scored six goals from his 21 appearances. Although he is the Hammers’ top-scorer, fans will still have expected more from the Frenchman.
Sheringham admitted that one of the main problems has been the service in the final third from Haller’s teammates, the likes of Felipe Anderson also struggling.
“I think the problem with Haller is they haven’t been playing to his strengths, with Moyes coming in – I think he will realise what he’s good at and what kind of service he likes,” he told Love Sport Radio.
“He’ll come alive, he’s had that settling in period he hasn’t done great, I think he’ll be alright and we’ll see the best of him from now until the end of the season.”
Moyes will be hoping that his arrival can also open the floodgates for Haller in the final third. The early signs have shown that the colossal forward is getting more of the ball.
The 25-year-old has won 32 aerial duels in the past two games against Everton and Sheffield United [WhoScored] – 15 more than the previous two outings before them.
Haller also completed one more shot in those two games, with things starting to look positive for the striker. Sheringham was spot on, the main problem does lay with the creativity, something that Moyes will be looking to change as soon as possible, with the early signs cause for celebrations.
