Sevilla will have to cough up £10m to sign Pablo Fornals amid West Ham United contract development
Sevilla will need to cough up £10m to sign West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals in the January window after his contract extension, according to Claret & Hugh.
The reliable Hammers journalists, in their latest article (7 December) share that the contract extension that West Ham activated could “complicate” matters regarding a potential move to the La Liga outfit.
The Athletic reported on 5 December that the Irons opted to activate the one-year extension clause in his contract, which was originally set to run out in June, though Evening Standard (6 December) shared that the East Londoners are prepared to listen to offers for the Spaniard despite the extension.

Should Sevilla firm up their interest in the Spaniard, they would need to pay in the region of £10m or wait 18 months to sign him for nothing, according to Claret & Hugh.
Jan exit best for all parties
David Moyes is keen to add to his forward options in January, but players may need to be sold to help raise funds and navigate financial fair play restrictions and Fornals is one player they are willing to listen to offers for.
The Spaniard will surely be growing frustrated over his limited role at the London Stadium this season and that was evidenced by his decision to reject a new deal (Sean Whetstone, 14 September), suggesting he wants to leave in January.

With La Liga outfit Sevilla interested in his services for the January window, David Sullivan may well feel West Ham United can gain as many funds as possible should he be sold in the winter.
Given Fornals just has one year left from January, £10m seems a very suitable and sensible deal for all parties involved and could yet prove crucial for West Ham United’s transfer warchest.
What use is there in keeping a player who no longer wants to be there, or who Moyes sees as a bit-part component in his squad? That’s been the Hammers’ problem in recent years, keeping hold of players who are clearly on their last legs at the club.
That same mistake cannot be made with Fornals who looks like he needs a new lease of life elsewhere, and he’s not the only one in the West Ham United squad.
