‘Serious player’ – Declan Rice blown away by West Ham ace as PL status secured
West Ham United secured their Premier League status on Wednesday after their 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Michail Antonio opened the scoring at the Theatre of Dreams from the penalty spot, with the Hammers perfect in the first half.
The Red Devils secured a point though in the second half, with Mason Greenwood scoring – not that it mattered to the Irons’ main goal of survival.
It wasn’t looking too good for West Ham midway through the season, with the Londoners going through a dreadful patch of form in the Premier League.
Two signings in January could have turned out to be the main difference though. Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen arrived at the London Stadium.
Soucek has received more praise, but it was Bowen who took the plaudits on Wednesday. The former Hull City man has clearly left a big impression on Declan Rice.
“Serious player this boy,” he exclaimed on his personal Twitter account.
The 23-year-old has scored once and delivered four assists in his 12 Premier League appearances, and although it’s nowhere near as good as his Championship record, he is clearly catching the eye.
Rice will know a good player when he sees one, and it looks like Bowen is leaving a lasting impression on his teammates already at the London Stadium.
Only Michail Antonio has averaged more shots on goal than Bowen in the Irons squad, and Moyes will be delighted with his impact.
Not only does the winger create space for himself, but he also creates chances in the final third with his direct style.
Bowen also attempts 3.58 crosses per 90 minutes, as well as 2.9 touches in the opposition penalty area according to WyScout – a constant threat.
The 23-year-old has had his settling in period, and he could be a real weapon for the Hammers next season.
