Scott Minto claims Real Madrid have been tracking West Ham sensation in past year
Scott Minto has claimed that Real Madrid were tracking the progress of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice last season.
The former Hammers defender made the claim while admitting that Rice would complete the jigsaw at Chelsea for Frank Lampard.
Minto, however, did admit that it would be a massive statement for the Irons to keep hold of their midfield sensation this summer.
Minto made the bold Madrid claim, after being informed by someone close to him – although he wasn’t able to confirm it himself.
“In terms of West Ham, if they could somehow keep him then that would be a massive statement,” he told Tribal Football.
“Every season he is getting better, better and better.
“I heard off someone I know that even Real Madrid were looking at him a year ago. Whether that is still the case or not I don’t know. It might just be let’s just keep tabs. He’s just that good.”
Wow. This is massive.
Minto wasn’t able to confirm whether or not the Spanish giants were impressed with what they saw, but they will surely be keeping tabs on him.
Everyone thought that Chelsea would be too good to turn down for Rice, but it appears as though they could be out of the race with Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz set to complete moves there.
Madrid are a different animal in world football and could be set to dominate Spanish football for years to come given Barcelona’s recent struggles, let’s hope that isn’t too much of a draw for Rice.
