Sawyer groans at Cascarino joke after West Ham transfer news he heard
Natalie Sawyer was left groaning at a joke that Tony Cascarino made about West Ham United’s proposed signing of Ajax striker Brian Brobbey.
The Dutchman has been linked with a move to the London Stadium over the past couple of days with other clubs such as Tottenham also mooted to be interested in acquiring his services.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (25 January, 08:37am), Cascarino joked that the Hammers giving the 22-year-old £100,000-per-week would be “daylight Brobbery”.
“He [Brobbey] did, according to sources over in Holland, fly over to London yesterday afternoon so clearly something is in the offing,” transfer expert Alex Crook said.
“And I’m told West Ham are willing to pay him £100,000-a-week to make that move to the London Stadium.”
To which Cascarino replied; “A hundred thousand pound a week? That’s daylight Brobbery.”
Sawyer then simply replied with: “Oh, I shouldn’t have teed him up.”
Brian Brobbey would be an impressive addition for West Ham United
One of the main areas that the Hammers need to bolster in the winter transfer window is that of their number nine.
While the Hammers have Danny Ings, Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug among their ranks who are all natural strikers, the latter of the two are injured and it’s been made fairly evident that Graham Potter doesn’t trust Ings.
So, with all of that in mind, before the 3 February deadline, it feels imperative for the London Stadium outfit to bring in a new striker so that they can push on in the league and attempt to break into the top half of the table.

At the moment a couple of names have been floating around alongside Brobbey’s but out of the Dutchman and RB Leipzig talisman Andre Silva, the former seems like the better option.
There’s no knowing what Potter is going to do in the transfer market but if he can entice Brobbey to move to West Ham, the Hammers’ season could be turned around in an instant.
