West Ham ace Said Benrahma was pictured being held by the scruff of the neck by his international manager after being subbed off in Algeria’s 1-1 draw with Egypt, as shared in El Khabar.
The Algerian news outlet shared via its website on 16 October that Benrahma was frustrated with the decision to substitute him in the 63rd minute and that the boss Djamel Belmadi was unhappy with his reaction.
Belmadi refused to elaborate on the situation after the game but mentioned it was just one of those things that happens in the heat of the game, particularly a closely fought encounter like this one.

While it is understandable that issues can flare up in the heat of a moment, with the game providing an extra source of frustration for the boss and Benrahma’s complaints piling on top, the picture of the incident does look slightly over the top in terms of his reaction.
No context is provided as to how Benrahma reacted, or what he had said in the first place to provoke such a reaction, but you’d think purely being frustrated at coming off the pitch wouldn’t have triggered the boss to grab him by the collar.
Benrahma has faced a frustrating season, with his international games now adding to that, as he is struggling to break into the West Ham first team under David Moyes, largely in part to the form of Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta.
The arrival of Mohammed Kudus may prove an additional source of annoyance to the Algerian, who now has even more competition to deal with if he wants to work his way back into the first-team plans.
