Said Benrahma broadly agrees personal terms to quit West Ham United as Everton offer rejected

Said Benrhama has broadly agreed on personal terms to quit West Ham United during the January transfer and join Lyon, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported on its website on Tuesday (30 January) that the French club have mostly agreed personal terms with the Algerian winger, but there are still numerous details that need to be settled with Benrahma’s vast entourage.

Terms between the two clubs are understood to be agreed, with Lyon paying just over £15million to bring the 28-year-old to France before Thursday’s (1 February) transfer deadline.

Lyon have also been interested in a move for Arnaut Danjuma and Everton were willing to allow the Dutchman to leave this month, if they were able to buy Jake O’Brien in return, but the French giants have rejected that proposal.

Smart move

David Moyes has always insisted that West Ham needed to cut their cloth accordingly before they could look to bring in new signings in the January transfer window, and the Hammers are doing exactly that with this sale.

While details still need to be ironed out before the 28-year-old completely agrees to make the switch to France, it seems more likely than not that Benrahma will be a Lyon player before the transfer window closes at the beginning of February.

West Ham

The Algerian has quickly fallen down the pecking order at the London Stadium and has struggled to impress under Moyes’ management. While the Hammers have ultimately taken a loss on his services, they have shifted a wage off of their books and received a reasonable fee.

Hopefully, the final details can be solved sooner rather than later and Moyes and the rest of his team above him at the London Stadium can turn their attentions to finalising a couple of last-ditch incoming before the window slams shut.
