Ryan Taylor says West Ham United ‘made an offer’ for Luis Diaz in January
Express journalist Ryan Taylor has revealed that West Ham “made an offer” for Liverpool forward Luis Diaz in the January transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s side signed the Colombia international on a five-year deal for an initial fee of £37million after Tottenham’s interest in the winger [Sky Sports].
Amid the Irons’ club-record bid for Darwen Nunez as well as several other attempts to bolster their squad in the last window, the Hammers were also in for the man who is now preparing for a Champions League final.

Taylor told GIVEMESPORT: “West Ham are partial to a sexy signing as well, like Pablo Fornals. They like to bring in a continental player and I think West Ham are going to have money to spend this summer, I really do.
“Obviously, they made a club-record bid for Darwin Nunez in January and they made an offer for Luis Diaz as well, Moyes revealed, but it just shows there is spending power there.”
Promising.
Despite missing out on his signature, this is a very promising thing for West Ham fans to hear.
In seasons gone by you could say that the Hammers have had a lack of ambition with their targets or that they have gone for big players but far too late which has given them absolutely no hope – which might very well be the case here.

However, for them to be in for players with the quality of Nunez and Diaz is huge.
Those are the types of players that the Irons need to be signing as they look to propel themselves to the next level after their recent success in the Premier League and Europe.
They clearly have the money there and the ambition to go out and get these players – you just feel their strategy needs to be reconsidered.
Nobody is going to come to east London whilst attracting offers from elite clubs who are playing in the Champions League which means they have to move quicker and smarter to get these players rather than joining the party late and making massive bids.
