Kaveh Solhekol shares what he’s now been told about Ruben Amorim to West Ham United
Kaveh Solhekol has shared an update on the managerial situation at West Ham amid strong links with Ruben Amorim.
Widespread reports on Monday (22 April) suggested the Sporting Lisbon boss had flown to London to hold talks with Hammers chiefs.
While that has since been played down, the Portuguese remains one of the hot favourites to potentially replace David Moyes this summer.
However, speaking on Sky Sports News [23 April, 5:09pm], Solhekol said he has been told Amorim would be wrong to accept the job.
“There were pictures supposedly showing Ruben Amorim flying to London yesterday for talks with West Ham,” he said.
“The situation as far as he’s concerned, I’ve been told by somebody today that he would be incredibly naive or incredibly arrogant if he was to take the job.
“If you look at it, Sporting are top of the table and are going for the Portuguese double. So he’d be moving from a title-winning side to West Ham, where there’s a big job to do.
“Also, his style of play doesn’t suit the players West Ham have in their squad right now. He’d need time to reshape the squad.”
Are West Ham going to appoint Ruben Amorim?
Amorim’s name is an exciting one, especially compared to some of the others that have been linked with the United job in recent days.
Moyes may still technically be in charge at London Stadium, but it is becoming pretty clear that the Scotsman is going to make way next month.
Amorim’s name is also supposedly in the frame for the Liverpool job, so he is clearly doing something right in Portugal.
Indeed, he has already won four major trophies in his homeland and is on course to add two more to the collection before the season ends.

The suggestion that taking on the West Ham job would somehow be the wrong decision in terms of his career progression is wide of the mark.
Make no mistake about it, the United job will be one of the hottest anywhere on the continent this summer – even more so if competing in Europe.
Thanks to Moyes, the foundations have been set for the Irons to push on next season. Getting the appointment right is therefore imperative.
