Roshane Thomas shares what West Ham United fans did for Danny Ings v Sheffield United
Roshane Thomas has shared that the travelling West Ham fans were singing Danny Ings’ name in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United (21 January) in a show of faith for the exit-linked striker.
The Athletic journalist shared the chant after Ings won a penalty for the Hammers amid praise for the striker in what Thomas claimed was his best performance in a West Ham shirt.
Ings has been widely linked to a move away from the London Stadium this month, with interest from Wolves and Crystal Palace, but has been called upon during an injury crisis at the London Stadium.
Taking to Twitter during the game, Thomas wrote: “Ings wins West Ham a penalty. I know he’s struggled since joining from Aston Villa but this has been Ings’ best performance for the club. Away fans singing his name.”
Maybe he won’t leave after all
The rumours surrounding Ings’ exit from East London began almost as soon as the window opened, having dropped down the pecking order in East London and failing to impress when called upon.
However, it soon became clear that he would be needed during this injury crisis, with Moyes opting to call upon him in the absence of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, Michail Antonio and Mohammed Kudus, and after his performance at Bramall Lane, he may be sticking around.
This performance has shown Crystal Palace and Wolves what they were looking for with Ings on their shortlists, but he remains a West Ham player and Moyes will look to make the most of the form his striker has found with a consistent run in the team.

If the Hammers can bring in another striker late in the January window, there may still be some movement for Ings, but after this display, the club may think twice about whether to move on somebody who has proved he can still play his part.
In other West Ham news, a £50million bid is lined up for a new striker.
