Romano: West Ham-linked Daka Twitter activity was ‘fake’, big move was hinted
Fabrizio Romano has shut down hints that West Ham United-linked Patson Daka has agreed a move to Chelsea this summer.
The RB Salzburg forward appeared to like a Twitter message confirming the switch to Stamford Bridge, but it wasn’t directly the striker.
ZamFoot have recently reported that the Irons are favourites to sign Daka, although the Blues, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs are interested.
Romano has responded to the claims on his personal Twitter account and reported that although it may have been on his account, it wasn’t the striker who was in charge.
“It was a fake screenshot,” he wrote.
“Patson Daka has not retweeted. There’s nothing going on as of today.
“I mean, not him directly. That’s what I know. No problem. But at the moment, still, nothing going on.”
Nothing to see here.
Now that a move to Chelsea doesn’t appear to be confirmed, the race is still well and truly wide open for Daka this summer.
Out of the clubs interested, no one will be more desperate for a new striker than the Irons this summer, who only have Michail Antonio to choose from at this moment.
If Daka wants to leave Austria for guaranteed minutes every single week, then the London Stadium is the best choice, with European football also here next season.
Like most Hammers fans, we were gutted when this Twitter activity was shared online, but as we saw with Phil Foden earlier in the season, players need to be careful with who runs their accounts online.
The race is wide open, and this needs to be used as motivation to get the deal over the line.
