Robinson frustrated by update on West Ham man

We all know that West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere has had a tough time of things at the London Stadium since he joined in 2018.

The 28-year-old has suffered from injury after injury which, to be honest, was kind of predictable.

The Hammers knew the former Arsenal man’s injury history, but they signed him anyway. Now, though it looks like his second season at the club might be over.

Football Insider reported on Saturday that Wilshere looks set to miss the rest of the campaign after having hernia surgery this week.

West Ham

Former England international Paul Robinson has been left hugely frustrated by this latest update on the Irons star.

“He’s a top player if you can keep him fit but that’s been his biggest problem for a long time – getting him fit and keeping him fit,” he told Football Insider.

“I think he thought the move to West Ham would be a fresh start for him, get fit, play a lot of football but if he’s going to have a hernia operation now it’s a couple more weeks and before you know it that’s another season gone.

What more can you say about Wilshere?

There’s not a whole lot, to be honest. It just seems like he’s one of those players, like former Hammer Dean Ashton, who picks up injuries and can’t ever recover.

Hernia surgery is pretty serious, so it’s no surprise that he’s likely going to miss the rest of the campaign.

Ultimately, though, his move to West Ham has roundly failed to be the fresh start Robinson envisioned it being.

In other West Ham news, former England international Peter Crouch has admitted he is worried about the Irons staying in the Premier League.
