Rob Newman keen to sign Piotr Zielinski for West Ham United

West Ham are heavily interested in signing Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski and Rob Newman is keen to get a deal over the line, according to ExWHUemployee.

The reliable Hammers source wrote on his Patreon on 24 July that Zielinski is “highly recommended”, and the Hammers are actively trying to get a deal done.

West Ham are also chasing Lille midfielder Amadou Onana, and in both cases, the “price expectations are well off”.

Big money transfer?

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport on 24 July, Napoli have already rejected an offer from the Hammers.

TuttoMercatoWeb reported on 23 July that the Serie A side are keen on selling their player, but at the same time, they are not looking to sell him on the cheap.

It has been reported that the Hammers will have to pay a fee in the region of £38 million to sign the Polish midfielder who has 72 caps for his country.

The fact that Newman is personally pushing to get the deal over the line is interesting. It means, the club have done serious scouting on the player and they believe he can be a valuable addition to the side.

The Hammers are looking to bolster their midfield this summer, despite the addition of Flynn Downes.

Zielinski is a vastly experienced midfielder. He is an attacking midfielder but can play in the central midfield role as well. He has scored 40 goals in over 280 appearances for the club, which shows how vastly experienced he is.

However, the Hammers won’t be able to willing to pay in the north of £35m+ for him, and unless Napoli reduce their asking price, the London outfit will have to look for options elsewhere.
