Rio Ferdinand tells Piers Morgan to ‘shut up’ over David Moyes tweets after West Ham win v Villa
Rio Ferdinand has told Piers Morgan to “shut up” after the broadcaster’s latest comments on West Ham manager David Moyes.
Morgan, well-known for his controversial tweets, wrote via his personal Twitter profile on Sunday afternoon [31/10/21] that Moyes deserved to be given more time at Manchester United before he was sacked in 2014 following less than 12 months in charge.
As West Ham dismantled Aston Villa 4-1 at Villa Park, Morgan wrote: “If United had shown David Moyes a bit more patience, as they did with Sir Alex [Ferguson], they could have saved themselves a lot of pain.”
However, after Morgan’s tweet was put to Ferdinand on the latest edition of ‘Vibe with Five’ on his YouTube channel, the ex-West Ham and Manchester United defender replied: “Yeah, yeah, shut up Piers man, what are you talking about?
“Other than Arsenal, he ain’t got a clue.”

Timing is everything
Moyes is clearly doing a fine job at West Ham, but that does not suddenly absolve him over his past failures at football clubs.
Indeed, it does much to dismiss the Irons and what they have built as a collective.
Moyes deserves a tremendous amount of credit after re-joining West Ham in 2019, but the players and backroom staff have also played major roles in transforming the club.
It’s a case of the right manager at the right time. That wasn’t the case at Manchester United, which is a completely different kettle of fish.
There has recently been speculation that Moyes may be targeted by more ‘elite’ clubs as they hunt for new managers, with his reputation as strong as ever, but the Scot looks to have a good thing going at the London Stadium, and it would surely take something gigantic to break up this current relationship.
In other West Ham news, Ferdinand has also responded to Hammers fans over his Declan Rice comments.
