‘Ridiculously poor’ – Graeme Souness makes West Ham United relegation prediction live on Sky Sports
Graeme Souness believes West Ham will have enough to avoid relegation after their defeat to Tottenham, but has warned no one is too good to go down.
The Hammers suffered their 13th defeat of the season by losing 2-0 to Spurs on Sunday (19 February), leaving them in the relegation zone after 23 games so far.
After the game Souness, who was appearing as a pundit live on Sky Sports, admitted that he felt there was enough quality in the squad for them to get out of their current situation but insisted they needed to improve as nobody is safe based on reputation.
“Every time we’re on we’re asked to make comments on the bottom and the top (of the table),” he said.
“I think West Ham, when it’s so up and down, like Southampton winning yesterday at Chelsea when they shouldn’t have won. They carried a bit of luck. There was a bit of luck with the saves that goalkeeper made and the ridiculously poor finishing of Chelsea. The same with Man City at Nottingham Forest.
“For me, looking at that, I always look at the quality of the squad and then injuries, which we’re second guessing.
“But the quality of West Ham’s squad would tell me that they’re going to get out of it.
“I think I look at Leeds, I’m not sure anymore. I thought they would have got themselves out of it.
“I look at Bournemouth, my team, where I live, I worry about them. Wolves are alarming, after a couple of good results they go and lose yesterday.
“I think West Ham will be okay. They’ll be okay.
“We’ve sat here for years and said, ‘oh they’re too good to go down.’ No one is too good to go down.”

Poor
It doesn’t matter how good the players in your squad are if they can’t play together and perform, and that’s the problem at West Ham right now.
We spent the best part of £200m since last season when we reached a European semi-final and were pushing for Champions League places until the final weeks of the season.
But that hard work has all been undone this season and it seems quite obvious that changes need to be made to get these players back performing to the level we know they’re capable of.
That isn’t just going to happen overnight with nothing to jump start it, and if Moyes hasn’t been able to fix it already with the best part of two thirds of the season gone, then there’s nothing to suggest he can do it at all.
West Ham have to seriously start considering their options otherwise they’ll leave it too late and before you know it, the clock will run out on their Premier League tenure.
