Richard Keys tears into what Karren Brady said about Potter at West Ham
Richard Keys has ripped Karren Brady to shreds as he questioned Graham Potter’s appointment at West Ham and why David Moyes was ever let go.
Moyes was replaced by Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium but the Spaniard was dismissed from his role in the week after a string of poor results and performances in the Premier League.
Potter was chosen as his replacement to take the Hammers forward and although his first game ended in a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa in the FA Cup, Brady has backed the new boss to succeed.
Keys isn’t sure about the decisions of the Irons’ hierarchy as he blasted Brady, posting on X (12 January): “Karren Brady believes Graham Potter will take trophies to West Ham. I don’t.
“Strange – because they had a coach that did & they forced him out. Everton will benefit and it’s great to have a Scot working in the PL again. Welcome back David.”
West Ham need Graham Potter appointment to work out
Potter is a manager who has a real point to prove after how things went at Chelsea and he will be desperate to succeed at the London Stadium. However, it won’t be an easy job and the 49-year-old will need time to achieve his aims.
His predecessor had plenty of backing in the summer transfer window but this has left the new Hammers boss with a bit of a tightrope to walk during the January window, which is worrying with reinforcements needed in East London.
With hindsight, the hierarchy at West Ham will no doubt be looking at the exit of Moyes and wondering how much it benefited the team, if at all, though the decision to bring in Lopetegui rather than dispense of Moyes is the one that perplexed most supporters.

While supporters were frustrated with the Scotsman’s style of play, he had his side in a strong place in terms of what they were achieving which was surely a more important thing.
With Moyes now back in charge at Everton, Brady and the board will be hoping that Potter can have the desired effect in East London that will prove they have ended up in a positive position.
