Richard Keys rips into ‘awful’ Arsenal, hails West Ham United as example to follow
Richard Keys again hailed the West Ham United kit during a rant about Arsenal having the colour blue on their new strip.
Keys is well known for his complaining live on air but having an issue with a new kit is a totally new one, though the Hammers will just be glad it’s being aimed elsewhere.
The Irons’ shirt is iconic, and it comes at a brilliant time as Julen Lopetegui begins a new era at the London Stadium, replacing David Moyes after three European-filled seasons at the club.
Speaking live via beIN SPORTS on Saturday (17 August, 2:58pm), Keys said: “This is sacrilege, by the way. Blue on an Arsenal jersey? No. Those shorts are awful.
“Arsenal usually have such a good, traditional strip. But this is awful. West Ham, I’m loving. I’ve not seen a better one. It’s a classic strip.”
Keys said earlier this week that Bobby Moore would be proud of the Irons’ latest strip.
Can West Ham United begin a new era under Julen Lopetegui?
Moyes’ exit, sadly, ended on a sour note after three superb seasons at the London Stadium, taking the Hammers to Europa Conference League glory before competing in the Europa League.
The Spaniard and Tim Steidten have worked tirelessly to complete several key transfers during the summer window, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka the latest player to join.
The Irons finished in ninth spot in the Premier League last term, so Lopetegui will be hoping to utilise his new players and push the club up the table in the 2024/25 campaign.

While the Hammers will be pleased to know that Keys approves of the new kit, bringing an essence of the Bobby Moore days, that will be far down on Lopetegui’s list of concerns ahead of the new season.
West Ham need to get off to the best start if he is to win the passionate fans over, with several eyebrows raised after the Spaniard’s appointment earlier this summer, but the positivity surrounding the new kit should bring a better atmosphere to the London Stadium.
